Work Immersion

“Experience is the Best Teacher”
By: Danica May E. Del Rio

I believe in this quotation that having an experience on one thing can help us in our daily life. It also taught us a lesson that can be a remarkable memory in our mind and heart. Experience gives us the test first and lessons after.
I relate this in my work immersion because I learned many lessons that I can apply in my future life. Having a work immersion was very important and really good start to experience how does it feel to be in a work place. I am fortunate enough to have a work immersion in two places. First place was the Kumon Lipa Learning Center and the second one was at the Gastro Publiko.
Based on our experience in Kumon Lipa Learning Center, our group learned that “Patience is a virtue.” Having patience is very important to all aspects in our life especially in work. For us working there taught us that we should value every precious of time. Kumon Leaning Lipa Center is a place where children at the very young age can expand their knowledge in the field of English and Mathematics. So far our work immersion there was very fun at the same time but I can say that  it was also somewhat boring because their place was very quiet that I  felt sleepy at the vacant time. Afterwards, were all become busy at that time doing many things such as checking papers. In addition, Tr. Maita assigned us to different task like Louis and I, was done checking Math papers while Gem was done in reading books to the children and Jan Jercee was in the front desk of the office to take calls. At the end of the time we enjoyed our activities there.
Second place of our work immersion was in the Gastro Publiko. It is a restaurant where every customer can enjoy there to discuss their meetings with their clients and also to bond the time with their friends while they are eating the different menus there. In this kind of place I learned different things such as cooking, bar tendering, serving foods with the customers and especially socialization on the Gastro staffs. For me socialization is the very important aspects in work immersion because of interaction to different persons with varieties of traits and characters.

After all of these work immersion, we realized that our experiences there are very significant and useful for our futures life. We are very thankful and glad to have these lessons that we can apply someday in our job. Not all the lessons and learning can be found in the books or in school. Because the best lesson we learned is from our experiences in life that forever will imprints in our heart, soul and mind.

Treasure As It Is

Work Immersion sounds stressful yet it is required to take to have as relevant learning experiences through actual work. We were assigned to specific partner institution, business organization or establishment parallel to our specializations in order to help us reinforce our knowledge from classrooms and enhance our skills.

I am fortunate enough to have the work immersion at Kumon, I learned how to socialize to different children. I experienced to teach the children in different subjects, I checked their papers; I play with them, and experienced other kinds of activities. While, my experienced in Gastro Publiko taught us how to manage the time properly, to be more discipline in every action that I will take. The Gastro employee was very nice and easy to be approach; their guidance is always there in everything that we will do. I learned how to manage the bar area, how to make drinks like shakes, liquors, juices, and other beverages. In the kitchen section, I learned different dishes and some ways to cook easily. Sometimes I need to be like them, so that I can mingle with them. It is the best way to communicate them and to know what they like. I am happy that I learn on how to interact or socialize with them. Even if you feel tired and your neck was aching, you still need to act that you are okay. I can say that it is also somewhat boring because most of my time was wasted by sitting and waiting for nothing. Immersion was exhausting. You barely had time to stop and think since you were constantly engaged in activities or doing the task but it is also exhilarating, because I was experienced new things that will help me in the future.

To sum it all up, I am glad for another experiences that I will treasure the most. There, I have experienced new things that aren’t familiar with the things I usually do at school. I have met new people. And learned something in choosing what course you are going to take in college. The lesson that I gained is how to be tough, have perseverance in doing the activities that my teacher assigned. Even if you feel tired and your neck was aching, you still need to act that you are okay. It is all a positive experience. This experience helps me on how to be a responsible, a better person and a successful professional someday. I was very happy with the amount of activity that I’ve learned and experienced in work immersion. I learned a lot more than I expected. I am so happy and proud that I’ve finished the work immersion, bringing the lessons that I’ve learned.

“My Experiences in Work Immersion”
By: Louis Angelo Espiritu

Work immersion is a part of SHS that aims to train the students to work after graduation. It is a type of skill development wherein a worker learn how to do the through hands on experience. Work immersion is the method by which students are exposed with different work situation design to give students an opportunity that they have learned from the school. It also helps the students to acquire relevant knowledge and skills by perfroming in actual work setting. On the first day of training, we first find the location then look for the authorized person to talk to. The head of Kumon Center told us what were are going to do. To be fimiliar on the said place, she toured us around. We are very excited and somewhat nervous because of the new environment and the people as well. We don't have any idea of what kind of people they are and how we can adjust ourselves. We had our own duties to do. It was quite difficult for us because of the new assignmets that were given to us. We performed our duties for five days and luckily we learned a lot through the guidance of the head of the Komon Center. A week later we transferred to Gastro Publiko for our new work immersion. We learned how to manage and knew the things needed to run a business. We got many ideas that will help us for our future plans.

The Value of Work Immersion
By: Jan Jercee Padilla

In the approved latest draft of the Senior High School (SHS) curriculum, students are expected to spend hours outside campus, doing “Work Immersion.” Our country has had a lot of experience with on-the-job training (OJT) programs on the collegiate level. Unfortunately, many college OJT students are assigned only to insignificant jobs in a company (answering the phone, making photocopies, making coffee – that sort of thing). Rarely are OJT students expected to produce the same products that regular employees produce.
A lot of people can see the significance of work immersion that is why this has being done by every Senior High School student to serve as a preparation of what they could or would take in college.
Work Immersion as a Career Guidance and Counseling. Immersion can be used as a facilitative tool for career counseling for students, especially those in professional courses. By placing them in a real-world work scenario, it gives them an opportunity to explore the kind of tasks and activities they would like to do. Work Immersion also matches the candidate’s profile with a list of occupations, which can be used as a reference point for exploring opportunities.
Work Immersion as a Career Development and Internal Mobility. Immersion highlights individuals’ self-awareness and provides a deeper understanding of their interests and strengths in a work environment. It guides an individual's career choices by matching their interests and personality with various job profiles. From an internal mobility perspective, immersion can facilitate people’s development within a company and encourage those who are looking for growth and change.
Lastly, work immersion taught students to be patient with everything at all times. There is no success without sufferings. This opened the eyes of every Senior High School students that there is no work that is easy. The only key to reach your own victory is to work hard and let the time to be perfect for you to shine bright.

“The 3 Piece of Advice”
By: Danica May E. Del Rio
The first one advice that I can give to the future work immersion students are to become diligent on the task that are assigned to them. Being a diligent is one of the most important characteristics of the workers must have. Because if you are diligent in fulfilling your work many people will be passionated to become your friendly co-workers.
Second is being punctual. Being early is essential to everyone especially in working hours. Because everyone of us believe that "Time is Gold". Every seconds, minutes and hours is very precious that you should treasure like a gem stone.
Lastly is camaraderie. Camaraderie is very crucial term in socialization. If you possess this feature whether you're inside or outside of your work place almost of your co-workers and other stuffs will eventually like you. So for the future work immersion students these are only short tips you should imprints on your mind and heart that whenever and wherever you go bring it in every aspect of your life.

 My hope for the future

Immersion has been part of the curriculum in every school around the world. It can help the young ones to get exposed to the real world in preparation to working environment. In this activity, they will get a glimpse of what they want to be in the future. We have always believed that children are our future and have always aimed to take an active role in helping to educate learners who are nurtured in all aspects and not just in academics; we want to help each of them grow as a whole & joyful young person who is ready to contribute to the Nation.

The new age has brought ways that changed the significant values that should have nurtured students’ character at home and in school. Yet immersion programs help students find places which have retained the old, good days and ways. Students can find a workplace that values honesty and integrity in work documents; a company that promotes genuine help and care through excellent customer service; or an organization that trains its workers to become people with vision, plans, and leadership and students with a tangible experience of what it is like to work in a company related to their preferred course and career path after high school. Through engaging and challenging activities in the immersion programs, they will been powered to make better decisions and face bigger challenges that they might encounter later on. Not everything can be taught in school.

One of the things students should be exposed to is called an immersion. This will also give them an idea that not everything is about earning money; it's more of surviving the reality every day. Immersions can be fun, exciting, and sometimes exhausting. Preparing high school students for the coming years has become more challenging in this fast changing world where most traditional paths have been redefined by modern ways and views. To keep up with these rapid changes, students should all the more be exposed to the real world and be prepared for the real work towards survival. A good way to do this is to expose them to work immersion programs that can serve as a steppingstone towards a happy and successful life. Students are now challenged by theoretical classroom discussions. They need more than proof; they seek Actual experiences. When their teacher says, “Earning money requires hard work,” they need to go out and know how it feels to work and earn money by themselves. Immersion programs concretize classroom ideas, lessons, and opinions, turning them into real work experiences and realizations that last a lifetime.

Letter of Gratitude to the Supervisors
By: Jan Jercee Padilla

Dear Supervisors,

We want to thank you for giving us the opportunity to work and associate with you and your members. Working with you is already an achievement for us as a student. We really appreciate your efforts for us to be comfortable with you. Thank you for all the supports and encouragements that you give to us. Also, we appreciate the adjustments that your team made for us. Working with you is a once in a lifetime experience for us. We are very lucky that your company or business was the chosen place for our work immersion. We did not feel that our work immersion is mandatory because we are also willing to do it. Thank you for treating us as part of your team.
The work that we performed from the immersion made us realize such things and apply it in reality. You will always be part of our success!
            Thank you for your trust!

                                                                                                Sincerely yours,

                                                                                                            Group 1 ABM
